Mr. Mitchell appears regularly before the Assessment Review Board, the Information and Privacy Commissioner and all levels of Ontario Courts in proceedings arising under the Assessment Act, and related legislation including the Assessment Review Board Act, Municipal Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Statutory Powers Procedure Act and Judicial Review Procedure Act. He also has extensive experience before the Ontario Municipal Board. He has dealt with issues involving all property types and classifications of property.

In addition to appearing before the Courts and tribunals, Mr. Mitchell regularly provides advice to clients on matters relating to municipal assessment and taxation.

Related Experience: Mr. Mitchell has written papers and has been an invited speaker on the topic of municipal assessment and taxation for various organizations including the International Association of Assessing Officers. He was an editor and a co-author of the “Assessor and the Courts” prepared for the Institute of Municipal Assessors.
